Granada
Granada is a Spanish city with romantic history that will delight tourists. Situated high above sea level, the city is located in a valley below the magnificent Sierra Nevada. The city is famous for its historical landmarks, traditions, and culture.
The Alhambra is one of Granada's most well known historical landmarks. The fort is located atop a hill and was the palace home of the last Muslims to rule over the country. Alhambra is arguably Europe's most famous historical monument.
Known as the Red Castle, Alhambra was occupied throughout its history be Muslim princes, kings, and their many harems. The Red castle began life as a protective fort but later became a luxurious palace for Moorish royalty.

Many of the palace chambers were designated as rooms for royal meetings and ceremonies and are very regal. The Hall of Mexuar was to later become a chapel and today offers visitors the best view of the surrounding countryside. Visitors will also want to spend time exploring the lush gardens surrounding this palace fort.
